Dr. Ramon Castello
Dr. Castello is the founder of CardioHealth and one of the few fluent Spanish-speaking cardiologists in Jacksonville. Originally from Spain, he came to the U.S. in 1989 after completing his cardiology training. He spent most of his professional career in prestigious academic institutions such as St Louis University, Case Western Reserve University, and Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, where he was the Director of Echocardiography.
He is a world-renowned physician in the area of echocardiography and has published over 200 scientific publications. Dr. Castello has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Echocardiography and President of ICAEL (the sole agency in the USA that provides accreditation to echocardiography laboratories). Currently, he is one of the Directors of the National Board of Echocardiography and the Medical Director of non-invasive cardiology at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Erin Vaughan, ARNP
Erin received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from the University of North Florida and is certified through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC). She has been working with Dr. Castello since graduating with her Masters in Nursing in 2011. Erin has been a nurse practitioner for more than five years, with a total of more than 11 years of experience in nursing. Patient education is one of her biggest passions. Helping the patient understand the disease state and treatment plan is vital to successfully treating the patient.
Nicole Parr, ARNP
Nicole received her graduate degree from the University of Miami and is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She has been working with Dr. Castello since December 2018 when she recently moved from Miami. While in Miami she acquired 10 years of experience in nursing on a Progressive Care Unit. Nicole is fluent in Spanish. Patient care and education are her main focuses.
Marta Wells, ARNP
Marta has over 40 years of nursing experience. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including cardiology, pulmonology, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and ICU. Marta obtained her master’s degree at University of North Florida after her daughter went to college. She really enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them to learn the best way to take care of their heart. Marta wants to understand what is most important to you and help you achieve your health goals. She is very excited about the opportunity to provide quality healthcare services at CardioHealth.

Part of your cardiac evaluation may require further testing. If you require one our diagnostic tests you can expect to have Courtney as your sonographer. Courtney has been a sonographer for eight years and obtained her degree in Cardiovascular Sonography at Sanford-Brown Institute. She has been working with Dr. Castello since 2015. CardioHealth has the reputation of doing the most accurate and thorough echocardiograms in Jacksonville.

When you first walk in to the practice you will be greeted by Yas. As a medical assistant Yas can intake your information, take your vitals, do your EKG, place you on one of our several heart monitors, or do your ANSAR. Yas been working with Dr. Castello for 2 years. She started working in the medical field at a young age and is a highly committed medical assistant with a proven history of superior performance at individual, team, and organizational levels. She also speaks Spanish.

When you come in for your visit you will meet Grissell, who is one of our medical assistants. She graduated from The Concord Institute and has been working with Dr. Castello for over a year. As a medical assistant Grissell can intake your information, take your vitals, do your EKG, place you on one of our several heart monitors, and do your ANSAR. She loves working at CardioHealth and the patients. Her goals is to give her best to the patients and to the practice.

Our newest addition to the CardioHealth staff, Jessica is a medical assistant whose been with the practice for almost a year now. She intakes patient information, takes patient vitals, EKGs, places heart monitors, and even do ANSARs. Jessica comes with great experience, before CardioHealth she worked at UF Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Jessica is passionate about helping our patients get the care they need and making them feel at home.

When you are done with your cardiac consultation you can expect Ale to check you out. Ale will help schedule your next visit and any exams or procedures needed. Originally from Colombia, Ale attended Ultrasound Diagnostic school in Long Island, NY. She has worked with a multitude of physicians. Ale joined Dr. Castello’s office in 2012. She's knowledgeable and efficient and completely facilitates your medical needs. She is also fluent in Spanish.

Pilar is in charge of Revenue and also CardioHealth's Marketing Director. She has been with the practice since it first opened in 2014. Pilar takes pride in the office and in the patients. She is passionate about the practice and wants to ensure that CardioHealth is able to assist the patients.
